Property matching

"That was easy, anyone for a coffee!"

Our client is a property agent. They had the standard filing cabinet and day book.

They spent most of their time search through files manually matching clients to properties.

What was needed was the ability when a new property came on their books for a list of interested buyers to magically appear.

This was done using a database and some bespoke software that was triggered when a new property was entered. As we completed a thorough design we predicted up front that the next question would be, can we do this in reverse. That is match a buyer against a property. "Easy" we said, because we designed that in from the start.

Well at this point, we have a nice list, so the next stage was to interface the database to their existing word processor package (Microsoft Word) and automatically generate the printed details and if necessary print the envelopes.

Now that the system has a solid foundation any further expansion will be fairly straightforward.

We predict that the next enhancement will be to automatically eMail buyers when new properties matching the buyers criteria are received.

To move the whole system onto the internet would be trivial, because we designed it with that possibility in mind.

This system has released expensive personnel to do the things that people do well , and released them from the mundane activities that people do badly.

With experience we are able to mix technologies so that current and future requirements are met. How often do you hear "it had to be totally rewritten to cater for a trivial change"?
